Psychotherapy
In my practice, I offer psychotherapy for adults who are interested in feeling more free, happy and solid in who they are. I incorporate a depth psychotherapeutic approach (including an appreciation for the way our early experiences affect us as adults) with respect for the power of our innate strengths to shift things in positive ways. My approach is integrative, active, and experiential; while I want to hear and understand your story, I also want to support you in freeing yourself from the painful beliefs and behavioral patterns you may have internalized as a result of your experiences. This means I incorporate a variety of therapy modalities in my work, including relational and attachment oriented therapies, as well as somatic (body based) and mindfulness practices. For those who are interested, I can incorporate transpersonal approaches and hypnotherapy as well.
As your therapist, I will do my best to help you heal from past wounding, uncover and mobilize your strengths, shift ways of being that are getting in the way of your happiness, and create a life and relationships that are fulfilling for you. This process could involve developing more kindness towards yourself, and learning how to transform your inner critic.
I believe that true healing emerges when we call forth and work with the core self. Here is how this would manifest in our work together:
I believe that we need to develop awareness of and compassion for our core tendencies, as well as the flexibility to shift these patterns, in order to live fulfilled and engaged lives. I believe that healing is most likely to occur when we work with how these core tendencies live inside of us today (not just talking about where they came from in the past). I also believe that we are complex and whole beings, and healing ourselves fully often involves working with mind, heart, body and spirit.
Therapy is a deep process that can evoke a whole range of feelings, and often includes exploration of painful experiences. This can feel hard, or demanding, the way any challenge feels when we push ourselves to grow. However, although this might sound strange, there are also moments of fun and laughter. I find that sessions are often filled with warmth and humor, even as we dig into the difficult material that prompts clients to seek healing and change.
For each person, this journey is different. Some people come to me specifically because they want to work with psychological as well as existential concerns. Other people who come to me prefer to work more traditionally – they feel worried or depressed or panicky and just want help feeling better. I will work with you to help you heal and grow within a framework that’s comfortable for you. At some level, I believe you know best about what you need to heal, and I am simply facilitating the process.
All of us have strengths and challenges, parts of us we are comfortable with, and parts of us that are unfamiliar or scary. Psychotherapy is essentially a process that helps us to gain freedom and flexibility, that helps us move toward balance, so that we can have compassion for the ways we hold ourselves back, even as we gather the courage and energy to live in a way that brings us joy.

I believe that true healing emerges when we call forth and work with the core self. Here is how this would manifest in our work together:
- I aim to work with the core patterns and beliefs that shape your reality
- I work with these patterns in an experiential way, so we can access, understand, and heal what causes you distress in the present
- I respect the wisdom of your core self and respect you as the expert on your life
